What is All On Four?
“All On Four” is often all on 5 or 6. This refers to the number of dental implants placed to secure your new denture. Our dentists will thoroughly evaluate the condition of your oral health, especially your jaw bone. While four implants are the minimum to be placed, most patients will receive 5 or 6 implants for the best possible outcome. If there is compromised bone and concern that an implant may not take well or hold up, we may recommend a bone graft or sinus lift be completed prior to your All On Four procedure.
Typically, smaller dental implants are placed for a speedier procedure and faster recovery. The implants are often placed at an angle to provide the best support for the attached denture. They are placed where the jaw bone is considered stable and the number placed will depend upon your unique needs and oral structure.
About All On Four: what to expect
To place implants and dentures on the same day, we will use advanced digital technology. To prepare for your procedure and strategically place the implants, we will take 3-D images of your mouth in advance of your treatment. These are also used to create a temporary hybrid denture that will complement your natural appearance and fit comfortably in your mouth. On the day of placement, any necessary tooth extractions will be completed first, followed by the placement of 4-6 dental implants.
A temporary denture is placed in order to allow the gums to adjust to the new implants and dentures. After a period of several weeks, we will have you return to our office for a new set of dental impressions. These will be used to create your final denture which will provide a natural fit and function after the adaptation period. Your final denture will be secured to the dental implants and be a beautiful new smile that enables normal chewing and speech.

Can All On Four replace a removable denture?
If you currently have a poorly fitted, removable denture we can replace it with the implant-supported denture that is part of the All On Four process. We will work with you to address any other dental concerns so that your outcome is a success.
